The American Storyteller

If you have noticed on the right side of every page toward the bottom you will find a blogroll section. Other than Dolores’ Memorial site and WordPress site there are only two others. One of which is The American Storyteller. The reason I put his link there is because he brought many smiles to the face of my darling wife in the last weeks of her life.

I visited his website and was going to leave a note in his guestbook about how much his stories gave us an escape from the battle with cancer if only for a moment or two. Listening to his stories we laughed or cried, and for a little while my Beloved was transported to a different place and time and was able to find some peace.

The more I thought about it the more I knew he deserved a lot more than just a line or two of thanks. I don’t think he will ever know just how much value and quality of life he added to our lives in one of the most trying times a couple can ever go through. To simply say Thank You is far too small a gesture of what my heart feels.

I know very little about the man or his long and celebrated career in Radio. His name of course is Nelson Lauver. When you visit his site, and by all means please visit his site, you can read all about how he overcame many roadblocks to become the success he is now. And by no means was his journey an easy one.

Today Nelson and his lovely wife Jane live in Penn. And together they bring joy to millions across the country. I could never begin to thank them enough. I sent a small thank you early on when we first started listening to his stories. And we were both touched that a man that must be very busy and I’m sure is asked to respond for many things in the course of a day, took the time without being ask to leave a few words when he visited our website.

Nelson & Jane, my Dolores passed the early morning of April 17th 2008, and she did so on her terms with such grace and dignity that her passing was like her last gift to me, because I no longer fear death. And the night before, we once again listened to one of your stories and you brought a smile to her face one last time.

I can never repay your kindness alone so I am asking all of you that visit our website to take a moment and visit Nelson’s website and listen to a story or two and I know you’ll be hooked just like we were, And when  you sign the guestbook include a big hug from the Demonmaster.

From somewhere on the backroads,

The Demonmaster

Wow, Rick your words are very kind. Please accept our condolences on your loss. We wish we could wordsmith something here that would make the time easier, but only time itself will do that. You have a great outlook on life and we admire your courage. You and Dolores had and have something very special.

All Our Best,

Nelson and Jane
