It was a long hot ride from Biloxi, Mississippi to Panama City, Florida, and I decided not to dally and so I jumped on I-10 and zipped on over. With a late start, (from trying to find the electrical problem on the bike) and knowing how brutal the sun can be, I tried to make the trip a short one. And it wasn’t too bad considering. I rolled up at about 2:30 pm and was very happy to get off the bike and sit in the cool.
I am at the home of Dennis and Noi Foth.
Noi was my first wife and the mother of my daughter Debbie. Debbie and her kids and a couple of Dennis’ girls Marilyn and Angela and their kids all descended on Grandpa Dennis and Grandma Noi not to mention me! What a brave man, (Dennis) and the first thing I notice is that Dennis had a huge patch over his right eye. Apparently he had just had eye surgery that very same day. He persevered and by the next morning was able to remove the patch and claimed just minor discomfort. Hat’s off to Dennis! You can see he looks just fine in the pictures.
Noi cooked some of her traditional Thai cuisine and it was a
s good as I remember it from many years ago. Debbie and the kids were great and I enjoyed seeing them again. I miss them terribly and I don’t get to see them nearly as often as I would like as we live so far apart.
Grandpa Dennis bought the kids a slip-n-slide and of course Gr
andpa
Rick had to buy a pool and some other stuff so Wednesday turned out to be a great day to be a kid, you will have your squealing, pouting, pushing, crying, not wanting to finish your food for fear you might miss something, climbing on the roof when you were told several times not to, and finally for some a nap. Oh yea I forgot, the kids had a great time too!!
I felt so sorry for Dennis and Noi that I cooked dinner for everyone Wednesday night because in the morning
I get to leave and they don’t! Just kidding we all had a wonderful time and I am a little sad at leaving, there is a real feeling of being home here and everyone is relaxed in that family sort of way.
Next stop, someplace in the middle of Georgia.
From somewhere on the backroads,
